NVIDIA Broadcast alternative for Mac

Webcam background removal for live streaming on a Mac

NVIDIA Broadcast is great, if you're on a Windows PC with an RTX graphics card. On a Mac, Lil Floaty Cam gives you a live, background-removed cutout of yourself that floats over your game, code or slides, ready for OBS or any streaming app. No green screen and no special hardware.

How it fits into your stream

  1. Open Lil Floaty Cam and turn on Remove Background.
  2. Drag yourself where you want to appear and resize from any corner.
  3. Turn on Streaming Mode so no borders, handles or buttons show on stream.
  4. In OBS (or your streaming app), capture your display. You appear on top of everything you show, already cut out.

Because you're composited on your own screen, the same setup works for screen sharing in Zoom, Meet, Teams or Discord, and for local recordings.

Tips for a clean cutout on stream

  • Light your face from the front, and keep bright windows out from behind you.
  • A background that contrasts with your hair and clothes gives crisper edges.
  • In Settings, turn on Refine Edges and raise Edge Stability to cut down on flicker.
  • Use your iPhone as the camera with Continuity Camera for a much sharper image.

Questions

Is there an NVIDIA Broadcast for Mac?

No. NVIDIA Broadcast only runs on Windows PCs with an NVIDIA RTX graphics card. On a Mac, Lil Floaty Cam gives you real-time webcam background removal on-device, on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

How do I remove my webcam background for streaming on a Mac without a green screen?

Open Lil Floaty Cam and turn on Remove Background. You float over your screen as a cutout, so when OBS or another streaming app captures your display, viewers see just you on top of your game, code or slides.

Does Lil Floaty Cam work with OBS?

Yes. Add a Display Capture (screen capture) source in OBS and Lil Floaty Cam appears on top of whatever you're showing. Turn on Streaming Mode in Lil Floaty Cam so no borders or handles show on stream.

Is Lil Floaty Cam a virtual camera?

No. It doesn't show up as a camera in other apps. It's a floating window on your screen, so anything that captures or shares your screen picks it up. If you need a background-removed camera inside a call app's camera picker, use that app's own background effects.

Will it slow down my stream?

Background removal runs on your Mac using Apple's Vision framework. If your Mac is busy with a game or encoder, set Quality to Fast in Lil Floaty Cam's Settings.
